E.P. Breaux Utility Services delivers superior utility construction services across the Southeast U.S. and beyond. From small rural communities to major cities, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality work across diverse communities.

Our Story

In 1945, Ernest P. Breaux Sr. started a family-owned utility company in New Iberia, Louisiana, focused on residential work. As one of 11 children, Breaux began the business to help his parents support the family. Early on, Breaux instilled a commitment to dependability at the company—intent on providing the highest quality service to his customers. This led to the motto that guides everything we do to this day and adorns the tailgate of every company truck: Most Dependable.

The company eventually grew into five divisions—commercial, utility, industrial, communications, and service—with hundreds of employees. In 2015, Bernhard LLC acquired Ernest P. Breaux Electrical LLC, which now operates under the Bernhard brand. In 2021, the former Ernest P. Breaux Electrical LLC utilities division split from Bernhard and began operating as a new company, under the name E.P. Breaux Utility Services LLC.

E.P. Breaux Utility Services provides substation construction, underground distribution, and cable installations for major utility providers—such as Entergy, Cleco, CPS, AEP, WETT, and GRDA—as well as municipal partners across Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Texas. We also work on engineering, procurement, and construction projects with many large engineering firms, such as Burns & McDonnell, BETA, and EPC Services.

Mission

E. P. Breaux Utility Services is a profitable critical infrastructure contractor that provides training and employment opportunities as a foundation for upward mobility while providing a safe and diverse environment that operates with complete integrity and delivers dependable service.

Commitment to safety

Our team’s safety standards rise above the status quo. Driven by our in-house, hands-on training, we’ve created a company culture that prioritizes safety above all else—evidenced by our safety record:

0

Recordable incidents since 2017

500,000+

Working hours since last OSHA-recordable injury

Everything we do revolves around safety

We train on a human level, requiring face-to-face interaction with those we work with every day. We discuss each task as a team and evaluate hazards and control measures before work begins.

Each employee is trained before boots hit the ground, ensuring they have the education necessary to avoid/abate hazards. This training is repeated annually to remain relevant and maintain a focus on safety. All employees are given and expected to use Stop Work Authority.

We tailor our Safety Program to focus on leading indicators down to anticipated safety violations per man hour per job site. We use safety metrics to acknowledge our safest employees at our annual Safety Awards Ceremony.

Family is the reason for our focus on safety and health, as they are who we go home to at the end of each shift.
